La ville de Baiona, touristique et maritime, est située au sud des Rías Baixas, protégée de la haute mer par une magnifique baie. Sa situation permet de protéger les bateaux de plaisance et de pêche. Le climat est caractérisé par des températures douces toute l’année. Son centre historique a été déclaré “Ensemble d’intérêt historique et artistique” par la Xunta de Galice le 1er mars 1993, Vème Centenaire de l’arrivée de la Caravelle Pinta à Baiona, avec la nouvelle de la découverte de l’Amérique.
La commune comprend cinq paroisses : Baíña, Belesar, Baredo, Santa Cristina da Ramallosa et Baiona. Chacune avec sa propre identité et toutes ensemble formant l’offre de la ville. La pierre de ses rues et de ses bâtiments,l’arôme salée de la mer ainsi que le vert de ses champs et de ses collines font de Baiona un site particulier pour la satisfaction des personnes les plus exigeantes. La commune a également quatre kilomètres de plage qui permettent d’y passer de merveilleuses journées, en prenant le soleil ou en pratiquant des activités nautiques proposées.
